 Every snowflake is gorgeous, and significant in the eternal plan. 'Faithful Citizenship' passes by another milestone. This morning as I watch the gentle fall of beautiful snowflakes, I am reminded of the verse       "The rain and the snow come down from heaven,       and do not return there but water the earth,       making it bring forth and sprout,       giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater" (Is 55:10) 'Faithful Citizenship,' this forum of professional youth actively responding to the socio-political realities of India, is reaching yet another milestone. In the past one year, in spite of the restrictions of Covid 19, or may be due to it this group of Jesus Youth professionals from different avenues of life and locations have been regularly coming together to interact, reflect and act in the context of India's volatile socio-political scenario.   Has it been fruitful? Surely...

We gathered at Loyola, Aluva in '77 - 6 priests, 5 girls and 4 young men. Of course, Fr Paul Lanthaparambil, SJ was the superior of Loyola and we gathered there for the weekend as I was staying there and doing my studies at UC College, Aluva. This was a follow up meeting of a few of us from the 1976 Charismatic youth retreat held at St Paul's College Hostel, Kalamassery.  The five-day residential Charismatic Initiation at Kalamassery was quite special. Fr Marcelino Iragui OCD the main resource person was a professor at Aluva major seminary, and his proximity was a blessing for all of us. In June '76 we already had a first seminar at St Teresa's College, Ernakulam after which Fr Marcelino had started a weekly prayer group at that College. Some of us were actively participating in it.   - The First Liners - By mid 1982, ‘The First Line’ started meeting every month at Vidyaniketan College, near Kacheripady, Ernakulam. The reason for choosing that place was simple. On the third floor of the college building the 17 high school students were staying and I was in charge of the batch. So, that became an easy location for young leaders from all over Kerala to come and meet. After a few meetings at Kacheripady we found a very quiet place to meet. That was Snehanilayam, Kakkanad. A special education school run by religious sisters most of whom were from Europe. By early 1983 we came to a pattern, of meeting on the Friday, before the third Saturday of every month and leave on Sunday. For organizational purposes the renewal activities were initially organized in 14 zones in Kerala and our youth activities were also conducted in these zones.
